Will corsets go out of fashion?

Is there a fashion trend to wear corsets? Strange question? OK, let us set another question – will short legs and barrel-shaped female bodies ever be in fashion? Maybe, but for how long will they remain popular?

Humankind have seen many freaky deviations in fashion, but weird trends never seem to stay for long. Time passes and everything comes back to classic. And a classic human body is a proportional body.

Most will agree that good proportions of the body matter, and not any less than gorgeous clothes. Small waist and long legs are considered by the most to be a very attractive combination. And it is obvious that the quickest way to achieve this effect is to put on a corset and high heels. Especially, when plastic surgeries, diets and gym are not immediate options and one wants results now, not in six month or else.

Can we draw any conclusions? Yes. Our statement is: high heels and corsets are the tools for shaping  proportions of the body. They are not items of fashion. The proof to this statement is simple – age of heels and corsets are hundreds of years.

It is strange to hear something like “what do I need high heels for, my legs are all right”. So is odd to hear “what do I need a corset for, my figure is OK”, it sounds like “what do I need a perfume for, I have just had a shower..”

If we continue to humorously hyperbolize, we will finally come to a claim like “I don't need fine clothes, high heels, corsets, cosmetics, jewellery, skin care, perfumes, hairstyles, tan and bath etc.  I want to stay natural.”

Majority of women would smile to such a statement. And majority of men will make their choice in favour of a lady with a better look, better scent, better shape, better voice, better everything...

At all times women wanted to look attractive, and men always admired thin waists and long legs. Note that those waists do not have to be exactly very thin or skinny. They, in fact, can be quite “lush”. Key thing here is a good proportion! It is important to understand specifics in male and female perception.

Some say “men would chase every skirt they see”. Who says that? Yep, women. This quote is not by men. A man would hardly notice what style and colour the skirt was. What the man noticed, was a nice looking bottom, curvy hip line, slender waist and long legs. This is a typical impression of a male.

Men live by objectives, plans, ideas, routes, directions and straight lines ( and sexual drive too! ). They worry about perspectives and the future. Men never think enough on how to dress and how to look.

Unlike men, women live by accomplishments, materialisation, building of a today's reality. A woman can give birth to a child and bring a child up.. she has a natural potential for creation of life. And these natural capabilities come with realistic, practical approach to everything. Women pay attention to details and men do not. That is why “women ( not men) would chase every skirt they see”. They would look at this skirt with an expert's eye – what kind of material and style, how well it fits, how advantageous it looks. A man would never think this way.

Women are effective and practical and men are dreamers and always on the move.. Women are always surrounded by “difficult and dangerous today” and men live in “better tomorrow”.

To put it short: women see a skirt, and men see a body line shaped by the “skirt” ( or, in our particular case, by a corset and high heels)

So, corsets and high heels are not fashion items. They are tools. The tools for forming lines and contours of  your body. The body of “the most desired and attractive lady” - You. It would be naive to believe that “tools” might be fashionable this season or cool next season. You just have to master those tools and use them professionally.

If some celebrities or movie stars do not show up in corsets every time, it means just one thing – their bodies are “cool enough”. If they ever needed correction, they would have gone through plastic surgeries and fitness courses. So it is not a good idea to follow closely their examples. You can try, but will you succeed?

So why would you deny yourself the tools that you need just because someone else don't need them? We are not movie stars or Barbie dolls. We are normal women and we should be able to correct our look to our advantage when we need it.

High heels and corsets are our artistic instruments to build up best body proportions in order to create the right impression ( for example, on men). This impression is very predictable, which means a lady (You) can use her weapons at any time to her absolute benefit.

So what is a corset, an essential article of clothing? No. It is not designed primarily to warm or protect as normal clothing. It is not extremely practical or suitable for every occasion. But it is just special.

And now let us come back to our original question: will corsets ever go out of fashion?

Will there be times when guys stop reacting to a slim waist and long legs? As they say “God forbid!” If such times ever come, humankind will be in a deep deep crisis. In such time people will not care about high heels, corsets, breasts sizes etc. and the human race will eventually cease to exist...  So, while corsets are still “in fashion”, rejoice and keep on living! Let this happy times stay unchanged as long as possible. Let every woman possess powerful tools to keep her beauty long lasting. Let us be surrounded by gorgeous slim waists, straight backs, curvy hips and long legs to encourage our desire to live! Let the beauty save the world! And let us commemorate those anonymous inventors of these wonderful and yet so powerful tools. Long live the creators and their inventions!
